As sad as I was to leave Mykonos, Santorini had its own kind of beauty. I took the Hellenic Seaways ferry boat at 8:30 am. It only took about 2 hours to reach and I slept most of the way.
I stayed in Santorini for 6 nights. 3 nights in Acrotiri, the Eastern side of Santorini at Astarte Suites, and 3 nights in Fira, more towards the middle of the island where the town center is lcoated at Astro Palace. I would have to say that the most beautiful part of the island was Oia, the westernmost side of Santorini. Even though I didn’t stay there, I spent a lot of my time there walking around the Oia town center’s maze of tiny cobbled streets, shopping and finding cute restaurants.
Astarte Suites picked us up from the port and drove us to the hotel. I spent the first day just relaxing by the infinity pool that overlooked the ocean and calderas, or volcanos. The hotel is beautiful and has views you probably cannot find anywhere else. Every morning they bring breakfast to your balcony from a checklist you leave outside your room.
The hotel is kind of bougie; all you see is honeymooning couples laying out and getting lunch by the infinity pool, which was definitely my favorite pool of the trip.
The first day I arrived in Santorini, I rested most of the day because even though we got there early in the afternoon, we couldn’t check in until 2! It was a very relaxing day but I had a beautiful sunset dinner by the pool at the hotel.
There’s really not much around the hotel so if you don’t have an ATV or car, you are kind of stuck at this beautiful paradise which I’m sure most would not mind but I wanted to adventure the island.
So the next day I couldn’t resist going yachting around the island.

The captain stopped the ship at Thirasia island where I jumped off the boat and went swimming in the hot springs of the volcano. I could feel the water to be warm but I don’t know if it was just because of the hot sun shining on the water all day or if they were actual hot springs. Either way, it felt incredible and they gave us googles so we could see schools of fishes swimming underneath us.
They served lunch to us after our swim and sailed by the black beaches, the red beach, and the white beach. From the boat, we had the most incredible view of the sunset with nothing to block us from watching the sun fall into the sea.
By the time I got back to my hotel room, I was exhausted. I had a small dinner by the pool and called it a day. The third day in Santorini, I kind of had a late start because I was in the pool but I went to see the what became my favorite part of Santorini, Oia.

On the way to Oia, we stopped at a Mexican restaurant called Senor Zorba. I was so excited to have Mexican food in such a long time and the owners were from Colorado so it was pretty authentic Mexican food for Greece and probably my favorite restaurant this trip!
There are literally blue domed churches every corner you turn in Santorini but Oia is where the famous domes are located that most postcards from Santorini have on them. The domes are cute little churches and most are open to the public but the real beauty is from the outside view of them. Once you get to the main square of Oia, it is very close to the small 3 blue domes. Oia is on a hill facing the sea but you can take donkeys that will take you down 1000s of steps to the port. I did some shopping in Oia, bought a cute flowery headband, and had an amazing dinner overlooking the white cave houses and hotels and the sea. I stayed here all day because I did not want to leave this beautiful city. If I were to come back again, I would stay in Oia.

On the fourth day, I changed hotels to Astro Palace in Fira. (Closer to Oia! YESS!) Fira is the main town center of Santorini and where the only night life takes place. Astro Palace was average compared to Astarte Suites; their pool was definitely not as cool but the location was much more central.

I rented an ATV for the next 3 days because I found it expensive to get around on taxi and I knew I wanted to hang out in Oia my last few days in Santorini because Oia is closer to Fira than my old hotel.
As soon as I got the ATV, I drove it down to Kamari beach, where the sand is all volcanic ash. (All the beaches in Santorini are black sand beaches like Hawaii except there is one part where this is a red sand and one that is white sand. The white beach is not accessible by car or foot. You have to take a boat or swim to get there.) I rode past the airport and down to the south of the island to Kamari Beach. But on the way to there, I passed by a winery that was right on the beach.
I finally made it to the beach where it was very peaceful and I layed out for a few hours before riding out to Oia again at night for dinner.

After dinner, I rode to Fira town for the nightlife got to enjoy this lounge called Koo Club, where the music was top 40’s but I definitely got to hear a few hip-hop jams. There were some other cool spots across the street to Koo Club that were less $$$.
The following morning I went to visit Oia again, where I explored more of the cobbled streets and shops and ate lunch overlooking the domes and the ocean.
Then I drove down to Perissas Beach, which is also a black sand beach but filled with beach bars! It is super poppin over there in the daytime and I think Jojo’s and Full Moon might have been the coolest spot of the ones I passed by. Perissas beach was really far from Oia though, and would have been much closer from my old hotel.

I had a flight to Athens the following evening. The hotel set us up with transportation to the airport. It was my last day in Santorini and I wanted to visit Oia one last time and say good-bye so I drove there on my ATV before I had to return it. On my way back, I saw a fish pedicure spot called Dr. Fish. I have always seen people doing it but was a little chicken to actually try it but it sounded like a good idea because I had some extra time before my flight to try something new! It actually was not bad and it didn’t hurt at all.
