I flew out from LAX and landed at the Cancun Airport, from where the Hyatt Zilara (the hotel I would be spending my next five days at) had arranged a shuttle to pick us up.
I had booked a dolphin swim weeks prior to my vacation which was very reasonable (I think about 40$ per person) as well as a tour to Chichen Itza, and a cenote (an underwater cave) for about 50$ a person. It was like a 2-in-1 tour.
So the trick is to buy all the tours in advance on the Groupon site in Mexico. I read about this online but in order to access the Groupon site for deals in Mexico, you have to mask your IP address but I had a friend do it for me so if you can figure it out yourself, you should be pretty proud of yourself.
The flight from LAX to Cancun was about 350$ roundtrip which was a pretty good deal for a last minute flight. We traveled on United and it was a direct flight, I think it was like almost 5 and a half hours. We stayed at the Hyatt Zilara, which cost us about 370$ a night. I think it was definitely worth it because of the unlimited food and drinks included (that includes unlimited room service and premium cocktails!)
And they even had different events at the hotel like a foam party and salsa dancing and guacamole making but I only made it to the foam party!
When I first checked in, I got into the robe and ordered some room service- chilaquiles and fresh fruit, and fresh pineapple, orange, and kale juice!
But of course, I had to take a picture of the room first! (Everytime we check in, I’m like don’t bring your bags in yet, let me get my picture first!)
Then I got into some Sabo Skirt, and went to the beach, and had (unlimited) TAMARIND mojitos!

The next day we went to Chichen Itza (which was one of the tours we had bought online on the Mexico Groupon sites)
The tour I booked was awesome because after Chichen Itza, they took us to a cenote which is an underwater cave. It must have been 100 degrees out that day. It was a hot ride there, a hot day at the Mayan ruin, and thank god for the dip in the cenote because it was a hot ride back too!
So I didn’t want to take my camera down to the cenote so I just took my GoPro and you can see the video of me jumping off the cliff! and some other shots from the cenote

The next day I went to swim with the dolphins which was another groupon that I had purchased off the Mexico Groupon website. The dolphins were so cute but I felt bad that they weren’t in their natural habitat 🙁 I don’t think I would support something like that ever again. We got to play with them and swim around with them, and we got to go on a dolphin ride (where we lightly grabbed onto his fin and he took off almost like a car) and they even kissed us! And my dolphin’s name was Huberto!
I had breakfast and made my way there!
I came back and spent the rest of the day enjoying the resort. I fell in love with this hotel and its beautiful cabanas spread out on the beach! I spent a couple hours reading and relaxing out here.

That evening, we went to Hotel Zone where there were a bunch of clubs like Coco Bongo and Senor Frogs, but I didn’t take my camera but we bar hopped to a few places that didn’t have a cover along the strip. It was fun but very tourist-y and some of the nicer clubs had a cover to get in so we just danced a little and spent the night on the beach with a few beers. But for recommendations for clubs, I heard Mandala is the best and the second best is Coco Bongo, which is a show and club in one.

The next day we woke up super late and just enjoyed some room service in bed and went swimming in the ocean. We had our flight the next day so we wanted to just sleep in and relax the whole day! I really wanted to go to Tulum but 4 days just wasn’t enough because we were really tired from the Chichen Itza tour.
I had an early dinner by the pool! The food at this hotel was incredible. The choices were so abundant especially as a vegetarian, I was super pleased. Any cuisine you wanted, they had a restaurant for it. At this outdoor restaurant, Pelicanos, I would order the truffle pasta and it was delicious! Oh and the veggie burger! There was even a buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The bar closed at 2 am but there was a 24- hour game room with food, beverages, and alcohol constantly being served.

The next day we went to the aiport bright and early!
But I had to show you the amazing selection of Haribo candies!
